High school seniors must attend a high school within 75-miles of the American Airlines Center, attend a two- or four-year college or university in the fall of their completed senior year, need financial assistance, be in good academic standing, a legal US resident and complete an essay answering
“What is the most important lesson you have learned up to this point and how will you apply that lesson moving forward?”

Application Form
Entry must include:
  • Mavs Scholarship Application Form
  • Essay answering: “What is the most important lesson you have learned up to this point and how will you apply that lesson moving forward?” OR “What does attending college mean to you?”
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation referencing academic and community status – two (2) must come from teachers and/or administrators
  • A 2016, 2017 or 2018 copy of the IRS Form 1040 filed by his or her parent(s) or guardian(s) used to document total income
  • A copy of high school transcript that contains student’s class rank
  • College acceptance letter(s) (if already accepted)
  • Completed Student Information/Release and Authorization Form included in Mavs Scholarship Application Packet
ESSAYS DUE: Friday, February 23, 2018
All entries must be received by the Dallas Mavericks no later than 5:00 pm CT on Friday, February 23, 2018.
Postmarked entries will not be accepted. Winners will be notified on or before Friday, March 2, 2018 7:00 CT and at that time be given specific award details and game night recognition information.

SCHOLARSHIP OVERVIEW

This scholarship is for high school student athletes who are entering college in the Fall of 2018. Scholarship recipients will receive the award amount in four annual $5,000-installments. One of the 20 winners will receive the Ken C. Hicks Scholarship, valued at an additional $5,000. This person will receive their scholarship in four annual $6,250 installments. Officers or directors of Foot Locker or any of its subsidiaries, or members of the immediate families of such officers or directors are not eligible to apply.
