Maverick Academic Scholarship

The value of our Maverick Academic Scholarship ranges from $2,000 to $8,000 per year and may be renewed for up to three additional years.  The awards vary based upon the individual student profile; the stronger the profile, the higher the award.

The academic profile of a Maverick Academic Scholarship recipient may vary, but students who have at least an 1100 SAT (total of Math and Evidence-Based Reading and Writing) or 23 ACT score and who rank in the top 50% of the high school graduating class are very strong candidates for the Maverick Scholarship pool.

Scholarship consideration requires admission by February 15, 2018.  Early notifications to Maverick Academic Scholarship recipients who are admitted by December 1, 2017, will be sent in early January.  The second round of notifications to recipients will be sent in March to those who meet the later deadline of February 15, 2018.        

The Maverick Academic Scholarship offers four years of support toward a UTA bachelor’s degree upon meeting the renewal requirements:

• Full-time enrollment (12 UTA hours) each fall and spring
• Minimum cumulative UTA GPA of 3.0
• Completion of a minimum of 30 UTA hours during fall/spring/summer
